The Planning Phase will produce a workable scheme to accomplish the project's intended goals and outcomes. In this phase, a Project Planning Workshop will be conducted to obtain the detailed project milestones, deliverables, and tasks are identified and documented. This initial document will be done via Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and will be used to develop and refine the Project Schedule and identify the resources and estimates needed to implement and manage the project.
Objectives of the Planning Phase are:
1. Validate and refine business/operational requirements
2. Drill-down project scope to produce detailed work
breakdown structure
3. Finalize project schedule, resource requirements, and budget
4. Organize and finalize project team
5. Establish project control procedures
6. Obtain sponsor/customer agreement
Outputs of the Planning Phase are:
1. Final Project Plan Document (PPD)
Other outputs, or tools, are available for use to place or embed within the PPD.
